Needing all of the plant friends I can get lately! I adore winter, but plants help to remind me of the living, dynamic, and vibrant nature of the coming spring. Even little ones have a bright energy. ☀️ But I’m always looking for solutions to squeeze in plants out of reach of my curious kitty. 😼 Succulents like this can tuck into hard-to-reach places, and hanging baskets are (usually) inaccessible too. 
Anyone have other cat-friendly tips to share? 🤔🌿🤗
Wholehearter began almost 10 years ago as a cozy home yoga studio at my old house in Irwin. One of the biggest pulls I felt over the years was that just like our bodies and minds, yoga needed to be taken outside of the box and deeper into nature. I began offering mindful hikes, outdoor meditation practice, and bringing in elements of nature to my sharing as much as possible. 
Now, as we continue to renovate and design a new dream home + studio space at @ournookofthewoods, I feel an even bigger pull to make the earth a part of what I share as I reinvent. Though I’ve received some recent feedback about the name, “wholehearter,” I choose to keep it moving forward because I now see it as synonymous with how I share yoga. I hope friends and students will feel inspired, welcomed and held by nature. I hope this new logo evokes all of those feelings wholeheartedly.

As a new friend shared with me:
“There is something pure and simple about featuring the natural elements that exist...a true symbolism as you walk the path, supported by the bridge, over the brook, balancing the cobblestone, moving up the stairs, into the heart of the studio...embraced by the trees.” YES.

Vision boarding is a process for me. I’ve done one for the past 3 years now, and it usually takes me a month or so to develop.

I start by writing out my personal mission statement. From there, I reflect on the previous year and write about how I kicked ass, what I learned, and where I would like to improve. I marinate with those ideas and gather more through prayer and meditation. 
After lots more writing and reflection, music, yoga, and words, I figure out what feels most important for my year and I map it out. I hang it on the fridge and look at it every...single...day. Recently, I have been trying to practice being in a calm present state before I engage in any task or shift tasks. I notice the most challenge when my phone interrupts my train of thought, I am in a hurry to get from one place to the next, or I am simply enthusiastic or excited for next steps.

Rather than allow the cycle of busyness to continue from one task to the next as I’m swept through the day/week/month,
I just force myself to pause. As soon as i feel that little (or big) tempting pull of distraction or busy-ness, I stop the train. Just a moment of patience is enough to snap me out of a mindless state.

When I allow these tiny pauses, I find more value in conversations, more nourishment from my meals, deeper awareness of when my breath stops, and less anxiety or future-oriented excitement.
